Kilkenny Advertiser, October 21, 2011.

Maria of Kilkenny’s portrait of nine golden retriever puppies has scored bronze at the prestigious Federation of European Photographer of the Year Awards 2011.

Maria is one of only six Irish photographers to win in the European Awards this year.

“The vast number of impressive images made the judging procedure hard but joyful for all the judges. We are honoured to have such great variety in the competition,” says Jorgen Brandt, MQEP, who chaired the jury.

Maria’s passion for her dog photography is evident in her portraits and she has a dedicated following of dog portrait clients who travel from all over Ireland for Maria to photograph their pets.

Currently Irish Professional Photographers Association Pet Photographer of the Year Maria is delighted to win at European Level “ I am proud to have represented Ireland in a European Competition and to win the award is a huge honour.”

Maria’s pet portraits are also featured in two local animal rescue calendars for 2012. Maria has donated her time and photography to the KSPCA and Inistioge Puppy Rescue to help raise much-needed funds for animal welfare. The 2012 KSPCA calendar is on sale now and Inistioge Puppy Rescue will be on sale in early November.
