Kilkenny City Online: View all News Updates

Kilkenny tasted spectacular success at last night’s national IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation ) awards. Cleere’s Theatre, Parliament Street, Kilkenny won Leinster Venue of the year.

Even more amazing was that Kilkenny Roots won best small festival in Ireland, beating off opposition from the Cork Jazz Festival and Electric Picnic Music & Arts Festival.

John Cleere who founded the festival and established the pub over 20 years ago with his wife Phil said it was a great night for the city and county and said that it just showed what you can do through hard work, a bit of luck and having great people behind you.
