Outgoing champions Kilkenny were honoured as one of the top ten towns in Ireland making a difference to tourism at the 2014 Tourism Towns Awards Ceremony in Dublin.

Kilkenny remains in the top ten as CEO of Fáilte Ireland Shaun Quinn said: “I would like to commend the community of Kilkenny, our reigning champion, for making the top ten at this year’s Tourism Town Awards. You are a great example of what can be achieved in tourism when all the local elements are aligned with a common purpose. I hope that the towns and villages recognised today will inspire other communities across Ireland to take similar steps.”

Commenting on the Tourism Town Award, Peter Bluett from Keep Kilkenny Beautiful, said “As Irelands Best Tourism Town in 2013, Kilkenny is again celebrating a top ten nomination in 2014. It is wonderful that so many visitors now come to enjoy what we as citizens of our City have the honour of enjoying every day. The receipt of the 2013 overall award has assisted in promoting our many attractions.”
