Darkness Into Light Kilkenny a huge success

2,300 people took part in the second annual Darkness Into Light walk-run in aid of Pieta House in Kilkenny city at 4.15am on Saturday morning.
Many of those who completed the 5 kilometres around the city were the loved-ones of those who had lost their lives to suicide.
Led by the Mayor of the city, Cllr Martin Brett the runners, walkers and joggers made their way from James Stephens Military Barracks to the city and down by the bank of the River Nore before returning to the barracks for refreshments and a good chat with others who had also got up at 3.30am to complete the event.
Many shared life experiences and all who took part went home feeling refreshed having done something they felt was very worthwhile. Sgt Gary Gordon did an excellent job and Darkness Into Light committee chairman for Kilkenny, Kathryn Hutchinson paid tribute to all those who took part and said that placing the Child of Prague statue outside the door of the house worked because the weather was perfect.
