Installation
Instructions:
METHOD (Windows
95, 98, 2000, NT,XP )
Changing Display Settings:
You may change your wallpaper settings by using a Control
Panel Application that is built into your Windows operating
system.
On Windows 3.1, this application is called "Desktop",
and is located within the "Main" folder of
the Program Group, in the "Control Panels"
folder.
On Windows 95, 98, 2000 and Windows NT, this application
is named "Display", and can be accessed by
pressing the right mouse button while the mouse cursor
is postioned over the desktop, and then selecting "Properties"
from the resulting popup Menu.
Images Do Not Fill The Screen:
If the image provided does not fit your screen, you
will need to resize the viewing area on your monitor
so that the image does fit. Use the above mentioned
control panel to perform this task.
If you have Microsoft's Plus! add-on for Windows 95,
or you are using Windows 98 or 2000, you can use a "stretch
to Desktop" option to expand the image to your
preferred display resolution. This method of sizing
the images to your desktop may result in the desktop
images being distorted.
Saving Additional Images For Your Collection:
Browser Issues
When Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer
set a browser image to be the desktop Wallpaper, these
browsers copy the image to a "Netscape Wallpaper"
and an "Internet Explorer Wallpaper" file,
respectively. Unless you copy this file to a new location
(file), the next time you set the Wallpaper from your
browser, the old image will be lost
ALTERNATIVE METHOD (Windows
95)
- Find out what resolution is your display (go to
My Computer/ Control Panel/ Display/ Settings)
- Pick a picture and resolution (on prompt save to
disk, after the download is completed, unzip to folder
called WINDOWS)
- Go to My Computer/ Control Panel/ Display/ Background
, look in the wallpaper and select desired image.
Windows 98 can use the jpeg images without user initiated
changes, but Windows 95 requires that the images be saved
as bit maps (bmp) for use as wallpaper/background. This
can be easily accomplished by opening the image in an
image editor such as Paint (included with the Windows
95/98 operating systems, located in the "accessories"
subdirectory/folder) and saving the image as a 24-bit
bit map (bmp format). Many users convert to bmp format
even for use with Windows 98.
ALTERNATIVE METHOD (Windows
XP)
- Click on an appropriate resolution for your desktop
image
to link to the full-size image of the wallpaper you
want.
- Unzip downloaded file
- Select the image
- When the image comes up in the browser window,
right-click on the image.
- From your browser's pop-up menu, select "Set
as Wallpaper."
