THOMASTOWN PEOPLE WANT TO TAKE THE PLUNGE Thursday, 01 July 2010 |
| |
| The recent hot weather was not welcomed by everyone in Thomastown since the town’s swimming spot was declared unsafe following the collapse of the weir two years ago. Residents took part in a public protest last week organised by the Thomastown Community River Trust which has asked the council to purchase a site where such a facility could be developed. The members would like to see the site developed with a boat slip, a floating pontoon, a diving board, a boathouse and a campsite for local scouts and guides. They envisage that the amenity would be overseen by a committee and would have a permanent lifeguard. |
